the food place - Restaurants - Bolton & Horwich - Northwest
Typically there has been a disparaging view of restaurants in the North of England, with the general consensus being that the best food was and could only be found in the South, specifically London and the surrounding areas. This is an outdated view and completely wrong, for the past 15-20 years the quality and diversity of restaurants north of the Watford Gap has become increasingly better with some of the best restaurants in the country now being found "Up North", particularly Manchester and Liverpool as you would expect due to their size and affluence of the city centres.
Manchester in particular now has some absolutely fantastic restaurants that are regularly visited by many local celebrities from the world of TV, Radio and of course from the many Premiership footballers that live and work in and around Manchester. This coupled with the increase in young affluent workers and business owners in and around these large North-West cities has inevitably led to a large amount of investment in many businesses, one industry being the restaurant trade. People will always want to eat out at a good restaurant that serves great food and plush surroundings and whilst there is a restaurant to cater for everyones taste and budget there has been an increase in the top end of that scale due to the increase of people in the area with that bit more spending power.
You can now quite easily find a Michelin starred restaurant or celebrity cheffed restaurant and brush shoulders with Personalities from far and wide whilst eating some of the countries finest food prepared by some of the countries finest chefs, so its about time the North-West was given the recognition it deserves, great food and great restaurants!
Manchester alone now has an incredible amount of restaurants including Harvey Nicks own restaurant which serves some superb quality dishes, this doesn't mean that you have to spend a fortune to eat there however, they have a special menu which costs the same as any regular restaurant, obviously you cannot order the same dishes as would be found on the ala carte menu but it is still superb quality nonetheless. Understandably to get a table for this particular menu booking is required at least a month in advance but it is well worth the wait and of course always worthwhile for special occasions.
If you are looking for a particularly exquisite experience that will inevitably cost a fair bit more then the impeccable Michael Cains at Abode is for you, a two star Michelin restaurant where you will find a menu that is a little more wider ranging than most as you would expect and want. The restaurant itself is fairly small but has an warm atmosphere and of course has very friendly and attentive staff. The wine list is superb and there is an excellent range of cocktails should you want something a little different after you meal. Expensive but well worth trying.
